This was unintentionally the first release from Royal Mountain records.
Hollerado had recorded 2 new songs and wanted to put them on a CD to sell at shows, but thought it was a waste selling a whole burned CD with only 2 songs.
Since we were touring all over the place that year, we asked a few of our favourite bands if they wanted to put a song on it and hopefully people in other cities would hear it. We paid all the bands either $50 bucks or a case of beers. All the bands were quite unknown at the time, but we were big fans of every single one of them.
We printed 200 hundred on burned CD’s and sold them off the stage opening for the legendary Gang of Four on their reunion tour.
If you look at the tracklist for the compilation with a keen eye, you might notice some names on there that look very familiar now, and some of these bands went on to release timeless records (that’ll give you a clue!) that enabled Royal Mountain to become a ‘real” record label that no longer had to release records that were burned cd’s in ziplock bags. (We still did a couple times though).
Recently we found about 30 of these in the basement.
We’re putting them up for sale HERE - for $10 each. They may be in a bit of rough shape cause they are 15 year old CDR’s but we will donate all the money to the Daily Bread Food Bank so if it doesn’t play it a cool coaster for a good cause! (Pretty sure it will play though)
